18", rare Hawaiian Lei made of precious gem quality shells carefully collected on the Island of Kauai Hawaii.  The artist  "Shell Dave" used the herringbone style of string this 7 strand necklace and meticulously aligned the colors of the tiny shells. He collected these shells over 10 years in order to have enough for the color matching.  Please note that these shells were collected on Kauai, not Ni'ihau.  The shells collected on Kauai are not as smooth as those collected on Ni'ihau because they cross over many more grains of sand.
